Walk around and “See-thru” fireplace
This gas fireplace seperates two large areas in the house that have two distinct functions. I built cabinets back to back and on both sides of the fireplace with floating shelves above them for storage and to display the homeowners glass art collection. Each Mantle has its own features lending themselves to a more traditional style for the living room side and a slightly casual design for the great room. The formal living room has a white carrera marble tile surround and threshold, while the great room surround is a quartz stone hand chiseled from the floor to the 15 foot tall ceiling. There is a place to mount a big screen TV built in to the stone and conduit run for electronic wiring. The upper Crown molding houses lighting for ambiance, and in the ceiling 4″ cans light the art and shelves.
