Gas fireplace with split face travertine tiles
I wanted to update the fireplace to make it modern. There originally was a honey brown mantel with light brown tile running down from the mantel. I removed the wood burning fireplace and installed a gas fireplace. The fireplace stands over 9 feet tall and has a solid oak mantel done in a chocolate brown stain to match our kitchen cabinets. The mantel was built like a box and pushed on to 4-2X5 inch boards with a very tight fit so I only had to brad nail to secure tight. All the edges of the tile have a nickel plated edging all around. On the floor we have 12 inch x 24 inch tiles. All the work was done by myself including the gas fittings for the fireplace.
