The top priorities for the One Nest Project were to use radically different building techniques to build a better home in a 100-day build cycle at 40% less cost. With the classic barn-and-silo relationship as architectural inspiration, we built this home just a little over 1000 sq. ft. It has almost no wasted space. With three bedrooms, two and a half baths, 26-ft. vaulted ceilings, a spa, wine cellars, and a theater room, this house proves that with proper design, you can live more with less. It sits very lightly on the earth, on concrete piers and a steel chassis. Our team had a lot of fun with this project because we tried to balance cutting-edge building strategies with the classic architectural storylines of an old barn, with wood patinas and raw steel. The tension between the old and new creates what we think is a powerful story for the building industry to study.
