The Sisters of the Sea are five traditional cottages inspired by the Tidewater Victorian Architecture of the Chesapeake Bay area.  The much applauded coastal development of East Beach, in Norfolk Virginia, is home to the Sisters. The walkable community is a perfect place for these delightfully charming cottages.  Elements of the exterior architectural detailing come from precedent studies of the region and have been adapted to today’s financial, environmental, and maintenance concerns when developing homes for a specific market-driven price point.  These cottages were conceptualized as a way to split up a larger parcel that was originally planned for a different economy.  The idea of the Sisters could be attractive in many small towns in that there are the efficiencies of production building with all the great finishes and detailing of custom homes. Names such as “Shellsea”, “Nansea”, “Fansea”, “Glitzsea”, and “Yachtsea” and the individual exterior and interior trim details give these cottages their own distinct personalities as well as the feeling of being part of something bigger.  All of the Sisters were sold soon after the first one began construction.  Since different homeowners were involved in modifying the plans and interior finishes with Simpson Builders, the Sisters received another layer of differentiation and personality.
