This gazebo looks very nice. I have a few questions and comments.
1) How are the cedar logs attached to the top plates? It seems that you need some bracing.
2) How are the cedar logs attached to the deck?
3)Do you plan to take the bark off the logs and oil the logs with some product that has tung or linseed oil?
4) What is the diameter of the cedar logs?
Mark
Hi Mark,
1- the cedar logs were knotched out with a chain saw, where the LVL's were bearing on the cut knotch and were fastened with timber lock lag screws
2 It is hard to tell by the photo but there is about 4 ft of space from the floor to the ground, the cedar logs go down through the floor decking to the ground and are x braced from log to log. they are also fastened to the framing of the floor joist and fastened with timber lock lag screws
3 The owner has these cedar logs all over the property as fence post and columns for shed roofs as well, plan to them them just as they are
4 the logs are around 8" in diameter
thanks for your interest
