Because we were finally building our “forever” house, we were seeking a home that met three major criteria: as energy efficient as possible, as maintainece free as possible, as accessable as possible as we age.
We chose SIPS construction, triple glazed windows, 3 ft roof overhangs, geothermal heat pump, solar water preheat, Isokern fireplace and energy efficient appliances.
Roof is artificial slate, all exterior trim is PVC, columns are fiberglass, driveway is concrete pavers.
Stacked closets and thickend slab allow elevator install if needed, handicap accessible baths on first and second floor, doorways walker and wheelchair accessible.
