This porch had been sorely maintained, and poorly done up with rails while the original roof, though still in decent condition, was unfortunately too small. We demolished the old roof and floor system and created a new curved roof reaching higher up the wall, adding Tuscan columns based on a formula from an article in FHB. We reduced the girth of the columns by about 2 inches to make them still massive but manageable in the small space. Bricks and pavers to match were obtained from a Native American supplier in British Columbia. The flagstone path was done with thyme to fill in the joints.
