The clients lived in a log home and wanted a kitchen that looked old,but had all the function of a new kitchen. They also expressed that they wanted it to look as if some materials were taken from an old barn. So, with this information in hand I started my design work. In some of the cabinet doors I incorporated some crossbuck styled doors to give it that “barn door feel” . The material I choose was Butternut for the doors, face frames and grooved panel inserts for the doors. The material I used had some old powder post beetle bores in it and that added to the antique feel. For the door panels I resawed the Butternut, bookmatched and edge glued it and then V grooved it for a look of Barn siding. The backsplash is bookmatched walnut burl
