In my experience 300-500watt Halogen worklights go out all the time, I change the bulb and still no light. I figured the connectors got dirty but they are a pain to sand because they are usually shrouded and boxed in by some hardened drywall like material, then one day it occured to me: I had a cheap imitation Dremel from Harbor Freight and in the kit I also had some mini abrasive grinder “Dremel” bits- I gave it a go and it was no problem getting the small bit on the connector points for the Halogen bulb, I watched them change from almost black to a shiny copper color in no time- I also carefully cleaned the metal bulb ends as well (sometimes you dont need a new bulb, you just have to clean the metal ends of the bulb that meet the connectors).
Then I went a step further, I used a peice of solid Copper wire to connect a keychain size screwdriver to the light so I dont have to look around for one when changing the bulb. I also stored some extra bulbs wrapped in tp (so you don’t touch the bulb, a no no) in the frame of the worklight, see pics.
