Coved Addition
We were commissioned to remove a 1970’s family room that had been poorly grafted onto a classic 1920’s house and replace it with an architecturally appropriate addition. Coved ceilings and rich mahogany casework were a prominent feature in most of the rooms on the main floor. The challenge was to replicate this detail in the addition. Our second successful challenge was to bring access to a bonus bedroom; before our design, the owners were forced to walk outside and up a couple of steps to enter. This connection was triumphantly accomplished with a passageway that operates as a mini-library with built-in seating.
