When I purchased my foreclosed home in November 2005, the kitchen had been basically ripped apart by the previous owners. I had to hire a contractor to take down what was left standing and rebuild the kitchen walls. Therefore, I was left with one giant open space and a pantry! I didn’t have enough money left in my budget to put in a real kitchen until 2013. I purchased appliances and a utility sink. I eventually purchased a couple of small cabinets to try to hold all of my pots and pans, dishes and utensils. I was able to upgrade to bigger cabints. In the summer of 2009, I purchased some white utility cabinets at a discount in Lowe’s and designed a wall of cabinets to fill in the empty unusable space next to the panty. I, again, hired a contractor to install my design. Being I was living in down South now, I called it my “Redneck Kitchen.”
I designed the kitchen of my dreams but didn’t have the proceeds to make it fruition. Finally, in the latter part of 2013, I figured out a way to make my dreams come true. I took my design to Lowe’s and talked to a Project Specialist. He came out to my house and was amazed at how my design fit the project. We sat down and came up with a way to make it all work! I was even able to get a loan through Lowe’s for 84 months at a fixed rate that worked for me. The cabinets and countertop were ordered and I now have everything I ever wanted in a Kitchen. I was even able to purchased a wall oven and cooktop that I wanted and, being I purchased them on sale, I got them for half price. By purchasing Maple cabinets instead of Hickory, I also saved myself $3,000!
