The old kitchen had country charm but it was not very efficient for farm style healthy food preparation. On a tight budget and a DIY design, with the help of a master carpenter, we moved walls, entries and appliances. We kept most of the old dark wood cabinets. We designed some new custom cabinets and the large granite topped kitchen island. Old light fixtures were updated with paint and glazing. Azek shiplap backsplash, beadboard and box beam ceiling added a new style. The new layout with a super quiet dishwasher, counter depth fridge, microwave drawer, double wall oven (which was purchased on Craigslist and was the inspiration that we built the whole kitchen around), induction cooktop and the largest sink I could find created a super efficient farmhouse style kitchen. All our friends tell us our kitchen looks like it is from a magazine, so we hope that you will agree.
