I thought I could get away with using a typical 1/4″ yellow plastic drywall wall anchor to hold a towel hook on the back side of the hollow core bathroom door. After a few months of towel grabbing from the shower, it finally gave up and went sloppy on me. So in the process of replacing it with a Toggler style hollow door anchor, I had to remove the old plastic wall plug. Usually I use the sharper tip of the Swiss army knife to cut off the offending visible end, thereby dropping the remnants into the hollow door / wall. In this case (inspired by the previous night’s Pinot) I popped out the corkscrew, and gave a little cock-eyed twist and the hook grabbed onto the small openings of the portion that normally grabs the drywall. From here I had a firm grip and handle to wiggle the old drywall plug out clean and toss it. It left the old 1/4″ hole still well intact and perfect to receive the replacement Toggler style anchor… this time the hollow door style!
