Smithfield Church Capital Restoration
As part of the Smithfield Church column restoration I was asked to disasemble the column capitals, inspect them for damage and repair as necessary. Two signature were found dating the original construction to the 1840’s. Most of the stylized leaves that sit in the transition between the face of the capital and the egg and dart molding had been damaged or were missing. The capitals were reinstalled after the columns had been set back into place.
