My husband and I bought a fixer upper in September 2014, knowing we would be gutting and remodeling the entire house. (The day of closing we found out from the prior owners that the house started as a chicken coop over 100 years ago!) After ripping down all the walls to the foundation studs, we began planning the new layout. In this new layout we decided to add a second bathroom upstairs where no plumbing existed before. Our goal while renovating and adding the bathroom was to design something that would be true to the house and it’s style. From installing the new floor joists, to the framing new studs, plumbing, tile and even the bathroom vanity; we did everything ourselves- with Fine Homebuilding guiding us along the way of course. We absolutely LOVE the way it turned out!
