Cabinets were very dated and showing their age. Kitchen is part of our great room and materials needed to blend with existing wood work and contemporary, casual feel, of the rest of the house. This remodel increased storage space, added counter space, eliminated clutter and provided a way to vent cooking odors outside. We eliminated a desk and bulletin board, and increased the height of the upper cabinets by 9″. We considered updating lighting in kitchen, but found track lighting hasn’t changed much, still suited our needs, and we could make it more energy efficient by adding LED bulbs.
