Challenge:
These homeowners requested a ‘Country House with City Style’. For this newly constructed primary residence they wanted a home where extended family could gather year round, with interior spaces that would function well for weekend get-togethers as well as provide privacy when desired. Indoor and outdoor flow was a priority.
Solution:
The kitchen serves as the hub of the home, so function and efficiency were important. Once the layout was achieved, the designer worked closely with the homeowner on the selection of gray pickled oak cabinets that were paired with cerulean walls and an ecru and slate-colored granite, Neptune Bordeaux. The backsplash is copper foil glass.
A well-used breakfast nook features a built-in booth and round table. A valance and matching seat cushions were designed in a striped fabric blending watermelon, tangerine, lemon and lime colors.
The indoor kitchen flows seamlessly to a second outdoor kitchen on the deck. The outdoor kitchen is outfitted with a stainless steel built-in grill, massive burner to accommodate oversized pots, especially for lobsters, and colorful furnishings that give the homeowners flexibility for varying numbers of guests.
