This 1906, Federal style home had last seen renovations in the 80’s and was ready for rejuvenation. Enter new owners, Stuart and Karina Warshaw who were looking for a city home within walking distance of downtown Burlington, VT. To complete their vision of their new home, extensive renovations were completed throughout the home over the course of 9 months. Improvements included installation of energy efficient doors, retrofitting existing interior and exterior doors, moving and renovating a powder room, opening spaces up to each other, a new Ipe deck and screen porch (with storage underneath) to take advantage of Lake Champlain views , a complete kitchen renovation including new French doors to the adjacent screen porch, new cabinetry, a 12′ long piece of Vermont marble for the new peninsula, black quartz countertops, subway tile backsplash and cherry flooring. Douglas fir floor paste waxing and buffing, and rewiring throughout to make the home Code compliant. Exterior work included masonry pointing and repair using the same masonry compounds to keep the historic nature, a new chimney to replace the existing that was listing about a foot due north, siding and exterior trim replacement, interior and exterior painting, and infill of an in-ground pool to enlarge the lawn and garden area. And what a transformation it was! An eclectic mix of old and new that married together beautifully.
