Picture yourself on a sandy beach, in a soothing environment, inspired by the Italian island of Capri. This is a place where worries are left behind. The Faraglioni and the Piazzetta are some of the most famous settings for fashion photographers and the surrounding crystal, clear water is breathtaking. Italian living encourages enjoyment for every aspect of life – from intimate dinner conversations to sharing gelato while strolling along the coastline. When designing this dwelling like an Italian villa, the home was arranged in a linear manner. One axis connects the entrance to the outdoor space, and the other connects the great room, dining room, and kitchen. Appropriately, the social spaces are all connected while the private spaces remain more secluded. The color palette is inspired by the whites, greys, and blacks of the rocks and clear sea, and the finishes and furniture emulate the soothing nature of the island. Natural elements such as wood and stone are used in conjunction with soft materials reminiscent of the smooth sand. In the great room, black and white accessories pop against the furniture like waves crashing onto a rocky shore. With double doors from the great room to the lanai, the covered outdoor area becomes an extension of the home. The kitchen opens to the dining room, easily facilitating gatherings with family and friends. Not only is the kitchen luxurious with an island featuring a continuous waterfall of porcelain, but it is also functional with a cooktop and hood at the center and an attached, dropped eating table. The same stunning porcelain found in the kitchen is repeated on the walls of the elegant master bath.
