This outdated hall bathroom has served the family’s two children for many years but now they are both teenagers. The bathroom needed to be unisex because the family has one boy and one girl. I used a simple palette of black and white. The teens no longer wanted to share the vanity counter top and wanted their own space. We used mirrored vanities to create symmetry in the space. The daughter asked for waterfall faucets, which are very modern. All the plumbing fixtures are modern but the house is traditional so I used subtle curves in the light fixtures, mirrors and accent tile to soften the feel of the space. The floor is a wood-like tile that brings warmth into the space. We saved money but using a simple white subway tile, but splurged on the accent tile. The teens asked to get rid of the tub/shower combo and wanted a shower only. We decided to keep a small tub for resale value and also add a large shower. We relocated a large linen closet to the hallway. This allowed us the space for the shower. We added two shampoo niches for each teen.
