Remodeling a Backyard Pool
Today we’re going to describe how we tackled down with building a backyard pool for our client. Background pools are a nice addition to your property, and they allow activities with your family or relaxing. However, pools aren’t so easy to build as you think. We recommend that you call a professional instead of doing it alone because there are a lot of things to take into consideration, especially if there are other aspects invloved other than just a pool. Here is how our project went on.
First step
We first had to focus on designing a pool. We had to measure the size of a pool and figure out how to incorporate it in the backyard. Then we had to decide which pool shape would be the best for client’s backyard and how to blend the style of a house with the style of the pool. Our client wanted something different, usually when we tackle such a project we are faced with normal requests regarding material and shape.
Step two
It was necessary to check out how the surrounding ground can support the pipes and the water coming through. We needed to check the whole ground plan so we could be sure that the pool won’t harm other installations.
Step three
We began the actual building by excavating the area with our equipment. After doing that it was necessary to grade the ground as much as possible because you want the surface to be as straight as possible.
Step four
After we had cleaned the area and formed it, we had to put in the plumbing and frame the walls so we could pour the floor. Here we ran into some problems because it turned out that the surface was harmed and, therefore, permeable at some spots. We succeeded in solving that problem with applying a special coat that secures the problematic spot.
Step five
Next step was building the walls and finishing them. Walls are usually made from a poured concrete and then secured with additional layers that are waterproof. There are multiple types of coatings like the basic plastic liner, real tile covering, sprayed plastic coating and so on. While the pool walls are more traditional, walls for the rest of the area and project site were actual real rock slabs that were used add a special touch to the entire backyard.
Step six
After we finally finished the pool, it was time to secure the edges to they wouldn’t leak. We filled in the outsides with a special filling made to prevent leaking and future damages. There are more types of filling, and each time we do a pool project we have to decide depenidng on the area and climate our clients live in.
To finish off, we added a pergola, so our client could spend time for relaxation or barbeque.
