Some of my earliest memories growing up involve some type of construction. My Dad has been a builder for over 40 years, so there was always something to learn. We lived in five different houses, four of which he built, and I look back fondly at the times we would go in the evening to look at the progress. I remember standing up at my Kindergarten graduation with mic in hand, saying, “I want to be a builder, like my Dad.” Since I was a little kid, he has given me almost every job imaginable involving various aspects of construction — which has served me well now in my own remodeling business. I’ve pushed the broom, thrown trash in the dumpster, worked in the drafting department, framed houses, and much more. Not always necessarily because that’s what I wanted, but because he knew it would be good for me.
The life lessons, business advice, and encouragement I’ve received from my Dad over the years cannot be overstated. He has give me so much, and nothing greater than his work ethic. He’s built over 4,000 houses in his lifetime and still comes to work every day with a passion to build homes and do things well. I’m forever grateful for the example he has shown me as a man of integrity and one filled with passion for what you do. Building is in my blood and I’ve never thought about doing anything else. I’m so fortunate to have a Dad who’s invested so much in me. Love you Dad.
