The major challenge for this project was building a two-story addition to match the floor heights of the existing structure which increased the width from 22 feet to 30 feet. We then had to remove the existing exterior wall which was major bearing wall and support it structurally. We also had to remove 3/4 of the existing roof and build a new roof to cover the expanded structure. All of this was to meet the client’s requirements of additional space and improve the flow of the house. The other challenge was to adding over 2,000 + square feet to an existing building and make it look like it was designed as one structure which was a very important requirement from the client.
