Any contractors, remodelers or DIYers ever find old bottles hidden in walls or ceilings? While removing the ceiling of our 1920s two-story upstairs/downstairs duplex in the SF Bay area, we pulled out hundreds of old whisky bottles stashed behind the lath of the downstairs ceiling in the joist bays. Most of the bottles are imported whisky, with a few random ceramic beer and glass gin bottles. Over 200 bottles came out this 1200-sq.-ft. ceiling; we had to have an extra demo crew member just to catch the falling bottles! We have asked locally but nobody seems to know why anyone would need or want to do this … your thoughts?
