When I needed to drill some holes in 12”x24” tile, I took a piece of 2” rigid foam and cut it approximately 17”x29”. I then cut some 2”x2” sticks of the same foam and used silicone to glue it around the border of the 17”x29” piece.
When I was ready to drill the tile I placed the tile in the foam tray I built, poured in enough water to submerge the tile, and drilled my hole. The water prevented dust from filling the air and the foam supported the tile so it was less likely to crack as I drilled.
