Use builders paper to protect carpet while painting baseboard
Shoving blue tape between baseboard and carpet with a 5 in 1 tool can be tricky especially if the trim is tight to the floor. Because of the adhesive side, it takes some finesse to get all the carpet protected and I’m usually left with a few wasted bunches. Instead, try builders paper. Roll it out next to the longest wall in the room and then cut it to length. Let the cut piece roll back up and then quarter the tube with a sharp utility knife. Now you have four sections that should cover the whole room unless there other partition walls. With no adhesive, the paper pieces easily slide in place. For tighter spots, the strips can be folded in half making a stiffer edge for pushing under the trim. I’ve found this takes less time than using tape. Plus, the amount of builders paper used costs about 1/3 to 1/4 of an equal length of the blue stuff.
