Efficient Western Bunkhouse with all the Features of a Luxury Vacation Home
The best way to be efficient in construction is to build small. By definition project cost will be lower, less materials will be used during construction and less energy will be consumed to heat and cool a small home. But, when we started the project, it seemed that the goal of a 3 bedroom 2 bath home in 1,000 sq.ft. was too restrictive for the generous programmatic goals. The goal of the owner was to build the luxury, comfort, and program of a large vacation home into a carefully crafted into a cottage size envelope. The only way this was going to be achieved would be through the elimination of virtually all circulation, the creative use of built-in furniture and fixtures, and the rigorous programing of every inch of space.
