The design of this project was to create a bathroom where there was not one currently. We made the bathroom be as functional as we could and keeping it as rustic but modern as we could. The challenges facing me was draining for the toilet and other plumbing fixtures in this space. I found a masticating toilet that allowed us to pump the drain water down to the septic system over 250 feet away. The top priority was to keep everything as barn like as possible. So I used 2x materials for all the trim and ripped the baseboards and window trim out of this material and clear coated it to keep the natural beauty of the construction grade redwood. All the headers are made from the old roof trusses which is nominal lumber. My customer found a great light fixture for over the mirror that looks like it came from an old barn. The budget was tight on this project so we went with a stock tile for the shower and the flooring is vinyl plank. To keep the barn feel more modern we added in a Panasonic whisper quiet fan and small cab lights for general lighting.
