The convenient in-town location of this house did present some challenges – local zoning regulations, consideration of the neighbors during construction, and designing a house that was new and updated, but that also fit in with its surroundings. We worked closely with the Town to ensure we were in compliance with the local zoning ordinance. To help minimize disruption to the neighbors, we built the shell of the house using pre-fabricated panels, which allowed us to get the bulk of the structure of the house erected in about a week. And, to help the house fit into the neighborhood, the gable end of the house faces the street, the long axis of the house, and the 4-car garage are barely visible from the street, and we used traditional, but updated, vernacular for the architectural style.
