Better Technique for Small Area Drywall Texture
When finalizing a small area drywall patch with a “spatter and strike” or “knockdown” finish using the spray can type of texture application, its almost impossible to get the finish correct. The spatter is either too wet and you work it too soon resulting in a big smear. Or you wait too long its too dry then doesn’t knockdown properly. A better approach is to just focus on getting a variety of spatter “blobs” of small, medium, and large areas, then let it dry overnight. Finish with a large sanding block to level the spatter to exactly how you want it and/or carefully remove areas that don’t appear just right to the eye. Paint and you’ll be quite pleased!
