When a pair of lawyers wanted to build a minimalist, energy efficient home to start their family, they found a beautiful location perched atop a granite boulder in Guilford, CT. Building on top of that boulder has presented many challenges, but the reward is a home with both privacy and views . This near-Passive House, super-insulated home is Net Zero ready and could easily become fully Net Zero with the future installation of roof solar panels. ERVs and air-source heat pumps provide fresh air and climate control. High-efficiency triple pane windows make for a light and bright home while providing expansive views toward Long Island Sound. This certified Zero Energy Ready Home has four-bedrooms, four bathrooms and is in a private community on the Guilford, Connecticut coast. The home owners goals were to live simply, reduce the amount of stuff and have a welcoming home for grandparents and friends to visit. The house has an open floor plan downstairs and 4 bedrooms upstairs. It is a simple 2 story modern box with emphasis put on materials, textures and simple design. There is no attic or basement.
