Paint blocking occurs when two painted surfaces come into contact before the paint is fully dry. To repair blocking, scrape away any loose paint or buildup, sand the area smooth, and apply primer. To prevent blocking, keep windows and doors open while painting and allow primer and topcoats to fully dry before closing the windows and doors and making contact.
