When it comes to complete interior repaints, or any other project, Kyle Thomas of Thomas House Painting takes great pride in his work. He believes that painting is craftsmanship — after all, “[painters are] the last contractors on each shop typically, so we’re the ones that really shine light to everyone else’s work, and our work is the most visible day-to-day for the client” he explains. And that’s why Thomas and his team always reach for the best paint — Benjamin Moore®.
A Quick Condo Repaint
My name is Kyle Thomas, I’m the owner of Thomas House Painting, and this is our eighth year in business. Today, we’re doing a full condo repaint which will include the walls, trim — everything. To start, we’re going to cover the floors as well as any of the furniture with plastic to make sure that nothing gets paint on it that shouldn’t get paint on it.
Although this condo was in great shape, we still filled any imperfections and any patches that needed to be done. We also sanded all the walls, top to bottom. In the master bedroom, there was a darker color previously on the walls, so we went ahead with a primer to knock down so there was less bleed through on the top coats.
Benjamin Moore® Gets the Job Done
The paint we’re using today is the Benjamin Moore®, Regal Select matte finish. Stain Release Technology and scuff resistance contribute to excellent durability with a very nice sheen. When we’re painting the final coats, we have one man doing all the cutting using a combination of a brush and a mini roller. The mini roller will smooth out any of the brush strokes. Behind him is going to be the guy with the roller — which is the fun part of the job — filling in all the blanks and giving it a very nice, smooth, and even finish.
Taking Pride in Painting
Each house might be a bit challenging in different ways — and for this project, it’s the staircase. First we go up, cutting everything in, and then behind that we hit the top section with a very long roller. After, we fill in the blanks with a small roller. The first thing I look for when I hire people is attitude. Of course, we’re looking for skill, but we need to have a good environment and everyone needs to work together as a team. It’s very important to care for all the work that we do.
All my crew members and I take immense pride in our work, especially when we see the transformation that we’re able to achieve for our customers. I believe customers choose me over the competition because I’m very transparent and open. Communication is very important to the customer. I always go over what products we’re going to be using, and I love to promote Benjamin Moore®. A lot of people are familiar with how great their products are, and it gives them a certain level of trust knowing that it’s going to last and look great for a very long time.
