Valley Jack Install
Heavy rain did not daunt students working on the FHB House's valley jack rafters.
The WACTC class used the measurements I posted in a previous blog on valley framing to calculate and make OSB templates for the valley jack rafters on a rainy day we weren’t able to work.
When they arrived the following day the students held the templates in place between the ridge and valley rafter to check they were accurate — and they were.
So Nick and Addy set to work cutting the I joist jacks and nailing on the web stiffeners with the goal of installing them before heading back to school.
By the time they hauled the prepared jacks to the roof light rain started falling. When they dropped the second jack into the hangers it was raining hard. I’m a wimp when it comes to getting wet while working but they guys weren’t deterred. Despite the rain they finished installing the three jack rafters, packed up their gear and headed for the bus completely drenched.
