After investing careful time and attention in the exterior elements of his home, builder Jon Beer wanted the interior of his home to reflect the same quality and durability. To do that, he used Loctite PL Premium Max as a long-lasting adhesive for finishing the stairs, exterior doors, and other architectural elements.
Here is the transcript:
I’m Jon Beer from Jon Beer Contracting and we’re here at the Fine Homebuilding House in Cornwall, N.Y., where we’re taking a 1950s home and adding a new structure onto it. In the process of remodeling, we’re using PL Premium Max in the finishing stages to help us put things together in a simple and durable way. Using PL Premium Max gives us the opportunity to have a long-lasting bond between materials so that our finishes hold up in the long-term.
The really exciting part of this project is that we’re creating something new with something old. We have two brand new staircases and in order to create a squeak-free and long-lasting installation, we used PL Premium Max to glue on the risers and the treads to the stringer, and the skirtboard and the trim to the walls. We also have five exterior doors. In order to make sure that we got it right the first time, we used PL Premium Max underneath the thresholds. We applied a bead of PL Premium Max either onto the floor or onto the threshold itself, pressed it in place, and then use a minimal number of nails to hold it in place while the construction adhesive set.
There are also a couple of architectural elements in the house, most notably two sets of slats that divide our staircase in the center of the building. In order to make sure that we’ve created millwork elements that are durable and long-lasting, we used PL Premium Max to attach some of the small components together to ensure they stay together in the long run. Overall, we were able to use Loctite’s PL Premium Max in a variety of ways to help us assemble a lot of different finish elements in a simple and durable way that gives this house a second chance.
